TL;DR: If you are strapped for time, here is the meat of our method. It was developed in 2 years and involved guitar teachers, parents, and even child psychologists.

The rest of this page details our step-by-step approach, what your child will learn, and how our reward system keeps them excited about practicing.

But before we dive into the course details, I want to share something important:

Learning guitar at home can be an amazing bonding experience between you and your child.

I wholeheartedly recommend you learn guitar alongside your kids, it is quality time to the max. You can start from zero and progress together with each lesson.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Younger children (ages 8-10) will need more support from you during practice sessions
  • Older kids (11+) can be more independent, but your encouragement is still vital
  • No musical experience needed from your side - we guide you every step of the way with a Parent's Resource Video in each course

We cover all of this in detail in the Guitar Parent's Playbookâ„¢, which you'll receive for free when signing up. It's packed with tips on how to support your child's learning journey, regardless of your own musical background.

How They'll Learn Guitar

Here's exactly how we make learning guitar fun and effective in our course.

Step 1.

Make it their own

After you enroll in the course, the account you log into is designed for your child, giving them a sense of independence and ownership over their learning journey.

They'll look forward to receiving new lessons directly, just for them.

You can of course log in any time, and check their progress.

Step 2.

Learn without feeling overwhelmed

Your child gets a new lesson 2 days after completing the previous one. This timing system is advantageous since they have time to practice what they learn, and aren't bombarded with new lessons if they skip a few days.

  • Each video is 15-25 minutes long, which is just right for kids 8-14.
  • The lesson curriculum alternates between learning a new song with a new skill, and practicing it the next occasion together with Milan and Tom.
  • On "off days" when no new video is available, children are ancouraged to log in, play along with a backing track, rewatch a lesson, thereby earning points, badges, and of course, learning guitar 😉
Step 3.

Build skills naturally through songs

Our step-by-step system introduces new skills - like chords, notes, and techniques - through songs your child will love playing. We call these sections "Building Blocks".

We adjust the number of lessons in each Building Block based on how challenging each new skill is.

Lessons build on previous ones, so your son/daughter will always be improving without even realizing it.

  • Happy Birthday
  • Peppa Pig
  • Twinkle Twinkle
  • Mary Had a Little Lamb
  • Ode To Joy
  • Scooby Doo
  • Old McDonald
  • Drunken Sailor
  • And more...
  • Surfin USA
  • Brown Eyed Girl
  • I'm A Believer
  • Yellow Submarine
  • Wipe Out
  • Let It Be
  • Smoke On The Water
  • Back In Black
  • And many more...
Step 4.

Stay motivated with rewards

Your child will stay excited about learning guitar with:

  • Points for regular practice and various other guitar activities
  • Badges for completing guitar quests and reaching milestones

This is called gamification, and is vital in this day of age, where they are used to it from video games.

They want to collect more badges, earn more points, and at the same time, they get a sense of accomplishment as they see the progress.

Our gamification system rewards consistent effort and skill growth, while keeping things fun and engaging for kids.

But unlike a video game, their points directly translate into something useful: learning guitar.

Step 5.

Celebrate big wins with real items

Nothing beats the smile on your child's face when he/she receives a surprise package in the mail for reaching specific guitar goals, like:

  • branded guitar picks,
  • physical certificates of achievement,
  • t-shirts.

The smaller items are part of your subscription, the larger ones we'll ask separate payment for.

These are important in shaping their self awareness and identity as a guitar player, paving the way for their musical future.

What They'll Learn

  • Build a strong foundation with easy-to-follow lessons on guitar basics
  • Learn real songs from day one, not boring exercises
