TL;DR: If you are strapped for time, here is the meat of our method. It was developed in 2 years and involved guitar teachers, parents, and even child psychologists.

The rest of this page details our step-by-step approach, what your child will learn, and how our reward system keeps them excited about practicing.

But before we dive into the course details, I want to share something important:

Learning guitar at home can be an amazing bonding experience between you and your child.

I wholeheartedly recommend you learn guitar alongside your kids, it is quality time to the max. You can start from zero and progress together with each lesson.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Younger children (ages 8-10) will need more support from you during practice sessions
  • Older kids (11+) can be more independent, but your encouragement is still vital
  • No musical experience needed from your side - we guide you every step of the way

We cover all of this in detail in the Guitar Parent's Playbook™, which you'll receive for free when signing up. It's packed with tips on how to support your child's learning journey, regardless of your own musical background.

How They'll Learn Guitar

Here's exactly how we make learning guitar fun and effective in our course.

Step 01.

Make it their own

Your child gets their own account, giving them a sense of independence and ownership over their learning journey.

If they have an email address, we recommend using it so they can receive their lessons.

They'll look forward to receiving new lessons directly, just for them.

Step 02.

Learn without feeling overwhelmed

Your child gets 4-5 video lessons each week, carefully timed so they're never overwhelmed or bored:

  • Each video is about 15 minutes long, which is just right for kids 8-14
  • 2 of the weekly videos cover a new song with a new skill, so they learn new songs in bite-sized chunks
  • The rest of the weekly videos are practice sessions, so your child practices together with Milan and Tom every day
Step 03.

Build skills naturally through songs

Our step-by-step system introduces new skills - like chords, notes, and techniques - through songs your child will love playing. We call these sections "Building Blocks".

We adjust the number of lessons in each Building Block based on how challenging each new skill is.

Each lesson builds on the last, so your son/daughter will always be improving without even realizing it.

  • Happy Birthday
  • Peppa Pig
  • Twinkle Twinkle
  • Mary Had a Little Lamb
  • Ode To Joy
  • Scooby Doo
  • Old McDonald
  • Drunken Sailor
  • And more...
  • Surfin USA
  • Brown Eyed Girl
  • I'm A Believer
  • Yellow Submarine
  • Wipe Out
  • Let It Be
  • Smoke On The Water
  • Back In Black
  • And many more...
Step 04.

Stay motivated with rewards

Your child will stay excited about learning guitar with:

  • Badges for completing lessons and reaching goals
  • Fun challenges that unlock new achievements
  • A sense of accomplishment as they see their progress through being able to play more songs

This is called gamification, and is vital in this day of age, where they are used to it from video games.

They want to collect more badges, earn more points, etc.

Step 05.

Celebrate big wins with real items

Nothing beats the smile on your child's face when he/she receives a surprise package in the mail for reaching specific guitar goals, like:

  • branded guitar picks,
  • physical certificates of achievement,
  • t-shirts.

The smaller items are part of your subscription, the larger ones we'll ask separate payment for.

These are important in shaping their self awareness and identity as a guitar player.

What They'll Learn

Guitar Playground™ develops real guitar skills while keeping the learning fun and engaging.

Our main course is built to take them to a lower intermediate level.

Learn Real Songs from Day 1

Forget boring exercises. We start with songs they know and love on day 1. It makes practice exciting and motivating.

Every song teaches or revises essential skills like chords, changes, strumming, etc. As they get better, we explore more complex skills like fingerpicking, and rhythm patterns.

Master the Basics, Step by Step

Building a strong foundation (how to hold and tune, basic chords, notes, strumming patterns, and many more) in easy increments is the basis of our course.

These are taught in a way that feels natural and easy to follow.

Understand Music Without Feeling Overwhelmed

Important concepts like timing, rhythm, and basic music theory are introduced naturally through hands-on practice with songs.

Learning happens without it feeling like studying... we all know how they feel about school 😉
